When actions are linked to identity rather than outcome, consistency increases. Instead of asking whether motivation is present, the question shifts to whether the behavior aligns with self-concept. Research in behavioral psychology shows that identity-consistent actions require less cognitive effort and are more resilient under stress.

Misinterpreting burnout and resistance
A common misconception is that lack of motivation signals the need to stop. In reality, it often signals cognitive fatigue, not physical incapacity.
